Championing Mental Health Awareness: Simpson, Thomas & Associates’ Gala for Youth

The Coming Together Gala, held at Aria Banquet Hall in Surrey on May 5th, 2023, was a night to remember. As a partner at Simpson, Thomas and Associates, it was an honor to sponsor this event and support the Kidsplay Foundation in their mission to raise funds for mental health awareness among youth and kids. The event brought together a diverse group of people from the community, including politicians, athletes, business owners, and media personalities.

Mental health is a critical issue, and it affects our community at large in British Columbia. According to a report by the Canadian Mental Health Association, about one in seven young people in BC—or 14%—will experience a mental illness at some point. Many mental illnesses—between 50% and about 70%—show up before the age of 18, so they can have a huge impact on a child’s development. As a law firm that has been serving the community for over 50 years, Simpson, Thomas and Associates understand the importance of mental health and wellness. The Coming Together Gala was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and funds for mental health programs.
